Music from Angel Fire Presents 24th Season!

21 days of extraordinary music by extraordinary musicians

August 17 – September 3, 2007

Music from Angel Fire celebrates its 24th Season of presenting exquisite, world class chamber music in the beauty and seclusion of Northern New Mexico's spectacular mountain communities of Angel Fire, Taos, Raton and Las Vegas beginning Friday, August 17 through Monday, September 3, 2007. International artists including the Miami String Quartet, violinists Ida and Ani Kavafian, pianist Anne-Marie McDermott and flutist Tara Helen O'Connor among others will gather once again in the magnificent mountains of Northern New Mexico for 15 concerts featuring the great works of the Classical, Romantic, Baroque and Contemporary masters. This Season several New Mexico artists will join the Festival including violinist Guillermo Figueroa, Music Director/Conductor of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra together with his brother, cellist Rafael Figueroa. Marc Neikrug, Artistic Director of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival has been engaged as Music from Angel Fire's 2007 Composer-in-Residence. The world premiere of a new work by Mr. Neikrug will be presented during the Festival through the Bruce E. Howden, Jr. American Composers Project.

The Festival continues its 24-year tradition in presenting chamber music concerts in the magical, intimate settings of the Festival's concert venues including the Angel Fire Community Center and United Church of Angel Fire in Angel Fire, the Taos Community Auditorium in Taos, the Ilfeld Auditorium and Immaculate Conception Parish in Las Vegas, and the Shuler Theater in Raton. In addition to 3 weeks of glorious chamber music, the Festival will once again present the Music from Angel Fire Young Artist Program. In its ninth year, this ever popular educational outreach program will feature performances by wind and string students from the famed Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia. These "up and coming" young artists will be a part of the Festival's "Music in Our Schools" rural residency program and will present over 30 hands-on classroom programs in the public schools of Northern New Mexico.

Festival Artistic Director Ida Kavafian will host two special Musical Conversations at the United Church of Angel Fire on August 19 and 30. Other program highlights will include the favorite 'Salon Concert' where artists strut their stuff in an informal setting with unique repertoire on August 26 and an all Baroque Concert on August 29 to be presented at the Taos Community Auditorium.

The 2007 Season is presented in part by the Eugene V. & Clare E. Thaw Charitable Trust of Santa Fe, the Albert I. Pierce Foundation of Albuquerque, the Benton Family of Houston, the Anderson Family of Gail/Angel Fire, the Hubbard Broadcasting Foundation of St. Paul, the Whited Foundation and United Chevrolet and Toyota of Raton, International Bank of Angel Fire and Raton, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation, Valley Market of Angel Fire, the Angel Fire Resort, the Angel Fire, Las Vegas and San Miguel County Lodgers' Tax, New Mexico Arts Division and the National Endowment for the Arts.
