Ida Kavafian, Artistic Director

Since 1985, Ida Kavafian has been the Artistic Director of Music from Angel Fire in New Mexico. She also founded and guided Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival as Music Director for ten years, building it into one of the leading festivals in the country.

As an educator, Ida Kavafian is on the faculty of the Curtis Institute, the Julliard School,  and the Conservatory of Music at Bard College. She serves on numerous competition juries and boards, including Chamber Music America.

Mary Kay Robinson, Executive Director

Mary Kay comes to us from Cleveland Ohio, is on the faculties of Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and previously Ithaca College.  She plays Principal Flute in the Cleveland Pops Orchestra. She has risen to national prominence as a versatile musician, balancing roles as soloist (flute and piccolo) orchestral and chamber musician, teacher, coach and consultant. She has performed, toured and recorded with the orchestras of Chicago, Cleveland, St. Louis and Pittsburgh. Her work in music leadership includes Panorámicos, the New Hampshire Music Festival, ChamberFest Cleveland and the Bascom Little Fund.

She plans to reside in the Angel Fire area full time which fits with the recent move of the Festival office from Santa Fe to Angel Fire.

Lynne Mazza, Associate Director Emeritus

Lynne Mazza has worked with Music from Angel Fire for since 1991. She has a formal music education, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music History and Journalism, as well as a Master of Music degree and Doctoral Studies in Musicology.

 For over 40 years, she has worked in varied areas of the music industry, including New York's Mostly Mozart Festival, Great Performers Series and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Merkin Concert Hall, concert management, music publishing and the recording industry. Lynne Mazza was also the Associate Artistic Director and Program Annotator for the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival in Colorado,1990-2010.She currently serves as a consultant for numerous music organizations and performing artists and writes frequently on the arts.

Jean Kenin, Education Coordinator

Jean Kenin has been coordinating the Music In Our Schools program of Music from Angel Fire since 2004. She is a teacher, a singer and Executive Director of the New Mexico Community Education Association (NMCEA.org), a non-profit that serves to enhance learning in northern New Mexico by strengthening connections between communities and schools.
