Painted Violin by Ginger Mongiello
Music plays a very important role in my painting process. I enjoy many different classical composers, but for the purposes of painting this lovely violin I immersed myself in Mozart. The elegant curves of the violin itself seemed to beckon the freehand sense of gesture to play across the surface. The spritely lyricism of much of Mozart's music helped me to dance the paintbrush through an all-over field of moving, waving gestures, perhaps recalling the movement of blowing grasses and flowers. Maybe it's my own high desert garden!"
