Painted Violin by Clifford Bailey

"I had never painted a violin before; I chose the color turquoise to reflect my appreciation for Santa Fe, and the Southwestern and Native American Art influence. I decided that since I was using oil paint, that I would paint one side at a time, allowing the other side to dry. I was able to secure the violin on my easel, just as I would with a canvas. First I sketched the characters in pencil, then added the paint. When it finally dried, I took the violin to Callier's Violin Shop (located in the beautiful and amazing, historic Green Castle in Pasadena) where it was varnished, polished, and strung."

Represented exclusively in Santa Fe by POP Gallery.
